RideShare.us Adds Google Maps Integration to Aid Carpoolers
RideShare.us is pleased to announce Google Maps integration has been added to our popular ridesharing and carpooling web technology. Event organizers listing a workplace, school, festival or other event can now put a street address on their ridesharing page to add an automatic link to the location in Google Maps. Finding an event and getting driving directions has never been more convenient.
Rather than provide a generalized commuter matching service, RideShare.us specializes in event based ridesharing, making the tools available for anyone to set up an instant carpooling page dedicated to their workplace, school, festival or other type of event. Listings can be for one-time or continuous events. Organizers can even make their rideshare and carpool page private so it doesn't appear in normal search results. Riders, drivers, and listed events can be located anywhere in the United States or Canada.
Using the RideShare.us website is a great way for schools and businesses to start working towards reducing traffic and parking lot congestion, while also doing something proactive to help curb greenhouse gas emissions. Larger organizations and gatherings are often best suited to using RideShare.us because it helps bring people together who may not meet in person due to a large office, academic environment or geographic separation.

If you are interested in a quick start guide to how this site works and don't want to read our FAQ help page you can now watch the new flash video tutorials. There is one for event organizers that quickly gets you up to speed on how to post event listings in the system. The other is for riders and drivers. It explains how to use the system to find, reply-to, and post ride ads. Both tutorials are under 4 minutes long.

The RideShare.us Announces Major Site Updates
- The first major change is that ride ads and event listings are no longer deleted by the system automatically when their listed date is past. Users are now able to delete event listings as well as ride ads when logged in and viewing the event or ride details pages. Deleting an event will also delete all associated ride ads so use this feature carefully.
- Ride ads and event listings will NOT show up in search results if they are more than one day past their listing date UNLESS the 'See Description' box is checked. Checking 'See Description' causes that phrase to appear instead of the date AND now causes rides and events that are not marked as private to show up in search results even if their listed date is past. This should make it easier to have continuous events in the system such as a school or workplace. You will no longer have to worry about setting the date a year or more into the future. - You can now search by any combination of attributes such as putting a State and a Keyword together to narrow results.
- Search results can be bookmarked and linked to directly. So you could link to every event listing in California with a keyword of 'dance', for example, by using the URL: http://www.rideshare.us/page.php?next=eventsearch&state=California&keyword=dance
- Search results are now paginated showing 10 listings per page to make them easier to browse.

The RideShare Alliance Now Serves The United States And Canada
The popular community ridesharing/carpooling Web site located at http://www.rideshare.us , which has helped schools, groups, and businesses throughout the United States organize a free virtual bulletin board has now added support for Canada. Rides can be coordinated locally, nationally, or even internationally for events, universities, or workplaces in either country.
In this uncertain time of climate change, global warming, and the resource depletion and dependence issues surrounding peak oil, The RideShare Alliance is a great way to encourage conservation of both resources and money. Sharing rides is more important than ever now that gas prices are soaring.
Socially responsible businesses and organizations looking to boost their offerings will find an easy way to facilitate a rideshare/carpool incentive program for employees or participants by creating a contest or offering a prize to encourage participation.
When it's so easy, why not? All you have to do is set up an event listing in the system and then distribute the lookup code or URL through a link on your Web site, email, and/or printed fliers and you're done! Riders and drivers post their ride ads and begin ridesharing! You can even make your event private so that only people who use your lookup code will find it.
